We use GPS so we know in real time where our foot patrol personnel and vehicles are located. We monitor our security guards while they are on duty 24/7. They must check in at specific times throughout their shift.
This is critical. If a guard does not check in at the arranged time for any reason, we dispatch a security lead to the site to assess the situation, and when necessary, take over the guard shift.
Scanning Check-In System
We want to make sure that our guards are covering their scheduled rounds on time. To do so, we install small Radio Frequency-Identification (RFID) tags throughout the property. When a security guard passes a RFID location, a RFID scanner records it.
The RFID scans are reviewed by a security field officer to verify security guards are properly monitoring all designated sites at a location. These reports are available to clients for review.

FAQ'S
Are All Your Guards Licensed?
Yes. All our guards have successfully passed a licensing exam by the Bureau of Security & Investigative Services in California or the Arizona Department of Public Safety in Arizona. Additional ongoing training is required to maintain a current license. At APS, we also provided continuing education training and additional training as security needs arise or new technology is introduced.
Are Your Security Guards CPR And First Aid Trained?
Yes. All our guards have successfully completed CPR and First Aid certification training and are required to keep these certifications current.
Do Security Guards Have The Authority To Make Arrests?
Part of a security guard’s training and duties is having the power to arrest those who are suspected of committee illegal acts. Typically, guards will detain the individual and then contact law enforcement for assistance.
Do Your Guards Carry Guns?
Some of our guards are licensed to carry a firearm. Not all security situations require that guards be armed. We evaluate the security needs of clients and discuss with clients whether an armed security service would be appropriate.
Do You Conduct Background Checks On Your Guards?
Yes. Part of the state licensing process requires that potential private security guards undergo and pass a criminal FBI background check. APS also checks DMV history and employment history. We check personal references and conduct drug screenings.
How Do You Determine The Right Kind Of Security Measures For Each Assignment?
Although there are often similarities in many security jobs, every assignment is different. We discuss your needs and review your site before suggesting security measures.
Are Guards Available Around The Clock?
Yes. Our guards regularly conduct patrols at retail businesses, residential communities, office buildings, outdoor sites, parking lots, warehouses and hospitals 24/7. Crime can occur at any hour of the day. Overnight hours are often when break-ins and vandalism are attempted. Our guards are always on call and available for service.
Do You Work With Local Governments And Agencies?
Yes. We regularly contract with government entities to help with patrols of parks, beaches, government buildings and other public areas.
What Type Of Security Technology Do You Use?
We use GPS devices so we can monitor, in real time, where our foot patrol guards and vehicles are located at a client’s property. To ensure that our guards are covering their scheduled rounds correctly and on time, we install small Radio Frequency-Identification (RFID) tags throughout the property. When a security guard passes a RFID location, a RFID scanner records it. This is important because it verifies that guards are where they need to be at all times.
Do You Suggest Using Security Cameras?
We believe security cameras can deter crime if their feeds are monitored continuously in real time. If one of our offsite personnel spots something suspicious on a camera feed at a client’s location, onsite guards are immediately contacted to investigate. This has far more value than reviewing security camera video after a crime is committed. By then, the criminal is long gone and the chances for arrest are reduced.
Are Your Guards Trained in Emergency Response?
Violence, accidents, natural disasters–or a pandemic–can occur at any time. When an emergency happens, the public looks to police and uniformed security guards to help them through the ordeal. Our trained guards assess the situation and do what is needed for the public safety. When evacuations are in order, our guards quickly and calmly escort the public to safety until further help arrives. When COVID-19 hit, we immediately trained our guards to provide health screenings at hospitals and medical centers, and stationed guards at retail stores, businesses and other public and private spaces to ensure the public was complying with health and safety requirements.
How Do You Bill For Services?
Once we discuss your security needs, we develop and present a security plan and a budget based on the level of recommended service. All costs are spelled out so there are no surprises. You’ll find our prices fair and honest.
What Kind Of Training is Required To Become A Licensed Security Guard?
After passing an initial licensing exam and background check by the Bureau of Security & Investigative Services in California or the Arizona Department of Public Safety in Arizona, guards are then required to put in further hours of training. For example, California requires that guards take 32 hours of additional training within the first six months of being hired by a security guard company. Annual continuing education is also required. Armed guards must pass additional firearms training.
How Much Can A Security Guard Earn?
It varies. Hourly rates depend on the amount of needed experience, type of skills required for a particular assignment and whether the guard is armed or unarmed.

The importance of security guard services cannot be undermined, as it is an integral part of many industries. You pick up any industry, the presence of security guards is increasing day by day. In fact, industries such as hospitality, events, supply chain, healthcare, education, real estate, and various corporate businesses are heavily dependent on security guard services. Gone are the days when security guards were seen as gatekeepers. We are living in an era where security guard services have evolved, and we now get top professionals from private security guard companies in San Diego working as security personnel. These guards are well trained by industry experts, which makes them robust and highly skilled.
In this modern era, businesses are looking to hire security guards who are all-rounders. Besides providing surveillance and monitoring services, security guards are expected to appear as professionals who can contribute in good customer service. For instance, there are stores where security guards are deployed outside the gates and are usually the first point of contact for customers. Another example would be at event venues. Guests come in contact with the security officers in order to show their passes or tickets and go through the mandatory security checks. If the security officers greet the guests and treat them with respect, it uplifts the mood of the guest just before entering the venue. Thus, such a professional approach indirectly facilitates customer service for the business.
The growing market of security guard services has given birth to many security guards service providers that offer similar security services. Be it patrolling security guard services or armed guards, you can easily get hold of a security service company offering a wide range of security services. Since the market is cluttered with many companies, there are chances of you landing up with a firm that might not fit the bill. Thereby, it is important to choose wisely from a range of private security guard companies in San Diego. Here are some useful considerations that you should keep in mind before hiring the service provider:
Certifications: Any security guard service provider will have all the necessary documents required to commence their business. You may request them to produce their certifications, permits, and other documents acquired from the state. If all documents are in place, you can be assured that the company is capable of providing genuine services. Additionally, there are companies that provide armed security guards along with patrolling security guards for which they need to have a valid license for the arms being used. Make sure you check if they have this license as well.
Customization: It has been often seen that customer’s expectations are not met due to a mismatch of services rendered. As a customer, your sole responsibility is to make sure that you have clarity about your requirements. For example, you need security guards to safeguard a warehouse located at a remote location. There are chances of high potential risks that the security guards might need to encounter. In such scenarios, you will probably want armed security guards deployed at the warehouse. However, if you have not made it clear to the security firm during the onboarding process, and if the firm does not have sanction to use arms, you might end up being dissatisfied with their services. There are many other preferences that the customer will have, and if the company offers customized solutions, it is likely that you will get the best security services.
Reputation: It is always advisable to hire a reputed service provider from a gamut of private security guard companies in San Diego. A company that has at least ten years of experience in rendering services should be the top priority. You can check client testimonials and online reviews and also check with references to understand the past performances of the security guard services by the company. Onboarding a reputed firm offers many benefits, such as getting expert suggestions in tackling difficult situations, managing emergencies better, skilled and knowledgeable guards on duty, and many more.
Training: One of the aspects that separates the good from the best security guards is the standard of training provided to the security guards. You must inquire about their training modules to get a fair understanding of the abilities of the security guards being offered. A top security guard firm offering patrolling security guard services along with other security services will always ensure that their training comprises methods of the best ways of monitoring and surveillance. They also provide conflict management training to the guards that makes them highly capable in resolving conflicts among people.
Approach: Whether you hire a patrolling security guard services or armed guards or unarmed ones, the overall professionalism and approach of the guards make a huge difference. There are businesses that need security officers who are presentable and can communicate effectively with their visitors. The security officers should know the right ways of dealing with VIPs as well as with vendors. Therefore, before hiring a security guard company, check how professional are they in their approach., because end of the day, they will act as your representative.
