Requirements When deciding to become a security supervisor there are several key components you must consider before applying. First, you must have relative experience as a security guard, police officer or any type of law enforcement position. Now that the demand for security guards are at an all-time high, the demand for an experienced security supervisor will increase as well. Private companies are taking over the duties and safety that once was filled by local police departments. In 2010, the median annual wage for security guards was $24,380. A security supervisor with experience can expect to make a much higher salary. The number of jobs for security guards is expected to grow by 19 percent between 2010 and 2020, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
